Chile

The bibliodiversity of the publishing sector in Chile has allowed several publishers to explore topics such as sustainability, environmental care, and cultural and sexual diversity, among others, showcasing Chile’s openness to these critical themes. Chile’s publishers are constantly educating themselves about using sustainable materials, such as certified and/or recycled paper, vegetable inks, and local printing, and eliminating single-use plastics. This is to not only transfer critical information to our audiences through the contents of our books but also have environmentally friendly publications.

Francia’s Dream (El Sueño de Francia)

Juan Francisco Bascuñan, Valeria Cis

Isabel is a young foreigner who arrives in the Atacama Desert on her study tour, where she discovers a fascinating landscape that renews her curiosity for Latin America. Still, a crude encounter with Francia, a migrant girl, changes the way she perceives her reality. The land that at first seemed wonderful to her becomes increasingly hostile, and a certain pulse leads her to venture in search of the origin of that feeling, getting to know other places and discovering a part of herself that will transform her. Through Isabel, France, and other beings, the author refreshes our memory and reminds us that the migrant condition is intrinsic to humanity and invites readers to question how we live this condition in order to try -at least try- to return to the initial harmony.
