The National Tainan Living Art Center, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture, mainly serves seven regions in southern Taiwan. A key mission of the Art Center is community empowerment. “Art for Social Change” commenced in 2020, the preliminary case studies mainly covered the issues, approaches, influences, and potential of individual cases. Hence, it is our priority to gather the basic data of prominent cases and then analyze the cases (the context of community-related issues, art forms, the approaches of artists, and how communities participate in the cases and their influences). The results of the research were presented to the public in a forum. Artists and professionals of community empowerment were invited to give feedback and suggestions for improvement prior to publication. During the forum, experts held a round-table discussion to exchange ideas about how to effectively manage resources and sustain the development when introducing art into communities. Open conversations from the discussion have also been edited for inclusion in the book.
