The Mountain I’d Share, With You

Introduction

“In spring 2017, Chen-Chun Liu and her travel partner set out from India to Nepal for a hiking trip. They ended up being trapped in a cavern of the mountain because of heavy snow. When the rescue team found them on the forty seventh day, Liu passed away three days ago. Her travel partner brought back her travel notes and letters she wrote for her friends and family.
Chen-Chun Liu’s attitude towards her own words resembles the feelings for traveling, and she explores the world while moving. As a center of circle, she unfolds the map and measures the distance between life and death through traveling and writing. She feels the mountain with her body, attempting to steer into (or away) the boundary between human and nature. The scattered manuscripts left by Chen-Chun Liu vary from each other in terms of the completeness, format, and narrative voice. This work is the compilation of her travelogs, poems, letters, and diaries.”
