I Dig in China
Introduction
This book is my experience when I went to excavate at archaeological sites while pursuing a master’s degree. I write this book from an international student’s perspective to explain my exploration of the differences between Chinese and Thai archaeology, learning methods, and cultural differences.
During my undergraduate studies, our supervisor always asked us “What do you want to do?”. That day someone answered “Study master’s degree”, but someone said, “Go to work”. Yes, at that time I answered “I’ll do archaeologist work”. Honestly, I did not plan to come to China for further studies, especially in archaeology.
However, I came to China in 2014, then studied and worked until the present.
I always think about “what I want to do” when I graduate: if I want to study for a master’s degree, I must find some scholarship. So I give myself one rule: If I get an A in 3 subjects,
Chinese Arts, History of Chinese Ceramics and
Chinese paintings, I will try to apply for
Chinese Government Scholarship.
Finally, I got it!
So this book also shows what I think, what I do,
what I get from Thailand to China.
Do you ever dream to excavated in China?
I learned the Chinese language for 1 year to pass HSK5, then study a master’s degree in Qin-Han archaeology.
My first step was school fieldwork at the Haimenkou site in Yunnan. This site was so important because “The oldest bronze tool” in Yunnan was discovered here.
What did I do? What did I learn? What did I discover?
What do Archaeo
