To be alive is to live a Felix Culpa. The concept of “”Felix Culpa”” originates from Christian doctrine and was later interpreted by mystic Simone Weil as the idea that one must spend a lifetime searching for their lost “”other half””. The incomplete self offers infinite opportunities to both enhance and remedy fixed attributes … to create a self previously unrealized and unimagined. Thus, the quest for the “”other half”” is an opening for poetry, allowing poets to embrace the myriad possibilities between literature and the cosmic order, liberating sparks of inspiration in the process.
Yinni’s poetry draws deeply from her own life. Since bidding farewell to her bookstore and moving to Tainan to live with her mother and her beloved cats, she has rediscovered her place in the universe and found her calling as a poet – her chosen medium to interconnect all things in the cosmos.
