A literary imagining of the time and space called “Mother”
In 『The White Forest』, author Lee Hyunyoung portrays the world we see and feel through our mothers, the world in which we grow, and, most importantly, the world that changes with the passage of time, all through the metaphor of a forest. This allows us to turn our attention to a new dimension of time. We grow from children who innocently believed in the idea of “forever” into adults who recognize the “time of change” symbolized by the white leaf. We come to understand that the one who was once cradled in the warm, safe arms of a mother will someday cradle others—and eventually, the world—in return.
