DON’T READ! LIBRARY

Introduction

Don’t Read! Library is a fantasy story that begins with a child’s frustration at being forced to read under strict rules. For Seoyeon, who cannot even enjoy reading freely during recess, a magical moment appears and leads her to the “Don’t Read! Library.” In this extraordinary place, the books she has always wanted to read open freely, and storybook characters even jump out to play with her.
The story opens with a playful “warning notice” parodying the preface of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. A series of charming characters—Luna, her best friend Luneta, the cat librarian Teacher Jangyang, and the library witch Teacher Doma—add energy and humor as the adventure unfolds.
As Seoyeon enjoys the freedom of the Don’t Read! Library, she gradually realizes her true desire to read. The story gently highlights the importance of creating an environment that inspires children to want to read, rather than forcing them to do so. Breaking away from the traditional image of a quiet, solemn library, this magical space features roller coasters through the stacks, hidden caves, and towering bookshelves reaching the sky—a world where books and play become one.
Don’t Read! Library is a reading fantasy that surprises reluctant readers with the joy of books and excites book lovers with the dream of playing freely in a library filled with stories they love.
